Woo-Woo Land

“Kia ora and Annyeonghaseyo!

My name is Ji Hyun Park and I am a Photography teacher by day and sticker artist by night. I started making tarot card stickers as a way to explore the idea of chance and fate, while having the opportunity for other people to create their own meaning in what they were seeing.

Having completed my PG Dip in Art Therapy, I wanted to create zines that could be helpful for people to learn more about themselves. Society shapes us to become disengaged from ourselves, while being in touch with your spiritual health is often discredited as being unscientific. These ideas invalidate cultural and indigenous knowledge of health.

I came up with the name Woo-Woo Land as a way to challenge and lean into the stereotype of connecting with our spiritual and mental wellbeing.

These zines were created as a starting point, to make mental health readily available and accessible to anybody. I wanted to highlight how our mind, body and spirit are interconnected.

It brings me great joy in creating artworks that allow space for participation. I think it tells us a lot about our human nature and our willingness to connect with other people.”
