Fathom

Fathom is the brainchild of Nancy Howie, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and maker. Raised with a nomadic nautical childhood on a boat around Mexico, Nancy always had to make do with what was around her. This DIY attitude motivates her creative pursuits, ranging from printmaking, quilting, experimental musical instrument-building, songwriting, home-recording, video-making, and, of course, zines. The homespun ethos of zinemaking has always appealed to Nancy, and the Fathom project created the perfect entrypoint into becoming a zinemaker. Nancy’s zines feature her poetry and collagework, and explore the curiosities, mundanities and ironies of everyday life. She enjoys working with cutouts from op-shopped books, magazines and old knitting pattern pamphlets. She is thrilled to be behind the table, as part of Auckland’s vibrant zinemaking community.
