Fathom
Fathom is the brainchild of Nancy Howie, singer-songwriter, musician and maker. Raised with a nomadic nautical childhood on a boat around Mexico, Nancy always had to make do with what was around her. This DIY attitude helped spawn her latest
project, a sprawling bedroom-folk experiment featuring homemade instruments and home-recorded music which tests the limits of lockdown-borne creativity.
The DIY ethos of zinemaking has always appealed to Nancy, and the Fathom project created the perfect entrypoint into becoming a zinemaker. Nancy’s zines feature her lyrics and poetry, and explore the influence her favourite music has had on her life. She enjoys working with cutouts from op-shopped books and old knitting pattern pamphlets. She is thrilled to finally be behind the table, as part of Auckland’s vibrant zinemaking community.
