Making Sense

SATURDAY 27 & SUNDAY 28 JULY

“Kia ora koutou! My name is Kate Duin and I‘m really passionate about creative knowledge-making processes so I designed this zine workshop as part of my Doctor of Clinical Psychology thesis at Massey University.

Throughout my life, I’ve often gone against the grain of how society expects me to think, feel and act and have longed to be seen and accepted for all my quirks and oddities. My experiences in queer communities led me to become immersed in a kaleidoscope of difference and as I engaged in an ongoing process of affirming my differences, I began to wonder...‘How I can enable meaningful connections by bringing people together in creative spaces to affirm difference?’

Through the creative potentials of zine-making, neurodivergent, rainbow rangatahi (aged 16-24 years) are invited to participate in the free workshop this July, as a process of 'making zense' of their lived experiences and affirming their differences. As a group, if we decide to create a collective zine based on the workshop zines, this will be showcased at the community zine table. Flick me an email if you want to join!”
