Bev Hickson-Snook (Deaf)

A late comer to art and zines.

Sketching since the end of 2021 Bev has developed a drawing style focusing on human qualities and all things uniquely Deaf. She uses colours and symbols extensively to add depth to the art story but also enjoys the simplicity of black and white to portray expressions and emotions. She is currently developing zine series each dealing with topics such as historic injustice, language, visualising alternative futures for Deaf people and growing the place of art in Deaf culture. She hopes one day to draw a comic about Deaf people.
